Mark L. Soltys, CPA
Mark brings 15 years of state and local tax experience to ORBA. Prior to his joining ORBA, Mark was a Director in the state and local tax practice for McGladrey, where he specialized in working with closely-held businesses with income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, and credits and incentives planning for new or expanding businesses. Mark’s primary focus has been working with clients in the manufacturing and distribution sector. Mark enables his clients to manage their businesses more effectively by helping them with strategic planning for state taxes. He assists clients in reviewing their state tax filing positions, evaluating existing state tax liabilities and establishing more efficient state tax filing position with a focus on state tax minimization or nexus creation. He has led multistate voluntary disclosure projects with 30 or more states for sales/use and income and franchise taxes.
Mark believes that to serve his clients well he must be proactive and provide timely information so that his clients can be better prepared for managing their state and local tax footprint. He also advises on tax minimization strategies and performs nexus studies to help clients manage their state and local tax footprint.
Outside of work, Mark is an active high school referee. He has been seen many a fall weekend on the football field. He enjoys working with young people to help them gain the skills they will need to better prepare for life’s challenges.
