“As a critical component to my client's success, I work hard to be a comprehensive resource that provides support across their situations and important life milestones.”

Tom has been with ORBA since 1994, and became a Director in 2001. His career focuses mainly on offering strategic tax planning and technical advice for individuals and their closely-held companies. Tom provides a full range of consulting to high net worth individuals and business entrepreneurs. He has significant experience in the commodities and securities industry.

Tom is the firm's primary consultant on U.S. tax issues relating to international taxation. Tom assists U.S.-based entities in planning for foreign activities and operations as separate entities, branches or divisions. He has researched and implemented tax savings and benefits for federal, state and international tax planning, assisted with tax consulting for individuals and corporations, and represented numerous Illinois taxpayers during IRS and Illinois Department of Revenue audits.

Tom believes it is critical to be involved and on the front line to deliver the guidance needed for success. He often provides daily consultations with clients as he helps them through various personal and business financial issues. Tom also applies the best practices to each of his clients’ situations from his own experience, a broad network of businesses and industry experts.

Tom provides regular tax seminars to offer guidance on handling IRS problems, procedures and tax exams. He has presented on many current topics including fiscal cliff tax issues, Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and the new Health Care Act.

Outside of the Office

In addition to being an avid sports fan, with a particular penchant for golf, Tom enjoys international travel. However, his appreciation for finance extends into his time outside of the office as well. Tom has organized investment clubs and funds with the purpose of fostering competition with the market, sharing ideas, providing a teaching forum and developing networking opportunities for investment-minded individuals. His commitment to education and teaching led to his active involvement with DePaul University. Tom and his wife met 25 years ago at DePaul and recently married after networking and reuniting together.
