
Mark A. Thomson, C.P.A.
Director
Mark has been with Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams, Ltd., since 1980, and became a director in 1991. He has extensive
experience consulting with manufacturers, distributors, and resalers. He provides guidance on a full-range of financial and
business services, including audits, reviews and compilations, strategic management, and income tax planning. Mark also helps
clients review product profitability, obtain available funding for training, evaluate existing inventory levels and establish
more efficient buying guidelines, review or set up costing models by product and/or product lines, and develop proper systems
and internal controls for their financial functions. In addition, he assists many clients with the implementation of their
software packages.
Mark has published articles on activity-based costing and led seminars covering several costing topics. He has
been involved in various litigation support and insurance loss engagements. Mark has extensive experience with buy/sell situations,
and has helped clients plan for and complete their sales transactions. He also has experience with personal and corporate
bankruptcy issues and assignments for the benefit of creditors.
Mark is a member of the Illinois Manufacturer's Association (IMA), the American Production and Inventory Control
Society (APICS), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS). He is
also a member of the BKR Manufacturing Committee and serves as the firm leader of the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality
Center division of the AICPA. He has served as Chairman of the ICPAS Committee on Manufacturing, and has served on various
other committees for the ICPAS. In addition, he has served as a financial advisor/board member for several not-for-profit
organizations. Mark earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
