CHICAGO — Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams, Ltd, one of Chicago’s largest accounting firms, through its affiliation with BKR International announces that John Nakamura is the recipient of its 2013 scholarship. Mr. Nakamura received the scholarship during UIC’s 41st Annual Accounting Club Banquet held on April 25.

“We have always appreciated the candidates we’ve interviewed and hired through UIC’s Internship/Co-Op program,” said Danielle Winkle, Director at ORBA and board member of BKR. “Many of these students finance their own education and we want to help.”

In order to be considered for the scholarship, the student needed to be an undergraduate, full-time student majoring in accounting, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The decision process also looked at factors such as financial need, academic achievement and work experience.

The Accounting Club is a pre-professional group and social club for accounting students at UIC. It focuses on bridging the gap between University of Illinois accounting students and the recruiters that seek talented individuals to join their firms. The Club also concentrates on developing its members’ professional skills and proficiencies not often taught in the traditional university classroom setting.
