Five Star Professional’s Methodology
Five Star Professional teamed up with Chicago magazine to conduct research to identify wealth management professionals that provide their clients with exceptional services. Five Star Professional sought nominations from broker dealers, registered investment advisor firms and FINRA-registered representatives. Only wealth managers with a minimum of five years of experience were considered and self-nominations were not accepted. Nominations were compiled and candidates were interviewed and evaluated using ten objective criteria. Criteria included credentials, favorable regulatory and complaint history, firm review based on internal standards, new clients, one and five-year client retention rates, number of clients’ households served, and educational/professional designations. Finally, 1 in 12 high net worth households in the Chicago metropolitan area were surveyed to uncover positive and negative experiences with their wealth manager, certified public accountant or attorney. Of the 2,970 candidates nominated, less than 3% of the nearly 32,000 registered financial advisors (wealth managers, CPAs and attorneys) in the Chicago metropolitan area were selected.
