In November 2019, Intuit announced that it will be discontinuing technical support for QuickBooks Desktop 2015 and older versions of its software.

How Does This Impact You?

As of January 14, 2020, if you are operating on QuickBooks Desktop software Version 2015 or older (Windows and Mac), Intuit will no longer offer technical support if an issue arises within your product or data file. ORBA will no longer be able to restore portable, back-up or accountant copies of your files.

If you are currently using third-party applications that integrate with your QuickBooks, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade your Intuit software. This is due to the fact that third-party providers require Intuit’s support and development to sustain compatibility with QuickBooks products.

Don’t fret, though, change is good and there has never been a better reason or time to upgrade. The more recent versions of QuickBooks Desktop offer more robust features and reporting.

How Will This Affect Your Tax Return Preparation?

We are pleased to offer you the following options:

  • Option 1:  You may choose to upgrade your current QuickBooks software.  Just give us a call to discuss your needs and ORBA will be happy to offer you its discounted software pricing if you are a current client. If you choose to upgrade your software and you are a client, we will prepare and submit your order to Intuit so that you receive the discount.  Shortly thereafter, you will receive an email and instructions from Intuit to download and install the new software.
  • Option 2:  If your ORBA tax professional is unable to access your QuickBooks file, you must print and provide all of the necessary financial reports that are required to prepare your taxes.
