Audit Manager
Position Summary:
The Audit Manager is responsible for all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients. Responsibilities include planning, directing and completing audits, developing and managing staff and reviewing financial statements and related technical accounting issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality
- Manage, direct and monitor client services teams on multiple engagements
- Plan, execute and direct complete audits
- Understand and manage firm risk on audits and proposals
- Manage, develop, train and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews

Experience and Skills:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance and a CPA
- 5 to 7 years of progressive audit experience in public accounting or equivalent with experience in a medium to large sized public accounting firm.
- Outstanding written, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills
- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships

Pay Transparency:
Estimated salary range is $115,000 – $155,000 and is dependent on skills and experience.

Audit Senior
Position Summary:
The Audit Senior is responsible for overseeing audit, review and compilation engagements and is responsible for resolving most accounting issues that arise during these engagements under the guidance of the Audit Manager and or the Audit Director. The individual will perform some engagements with minimal supervision and will direct staff and instruct them in the work to be performed, review the work completed by the staff and direct necessary revisions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervising the work of audit staff including reviewing their work and provide on the job training
- Conduct basic, specialized and complex financial, operational and compliance audits under the direction of the audit director.
- Perform risk assessment prior to the beginning of an audit engagement.
- Prepare the most complex work papers, to adequately document accounting & audit work performed and to support the conclusions reached.
- Prepare draft of financial statements and management letters. Will be expected to wrap up the engagement in a timely manner.
- Perform reviews and compilations
- Report progress of the audit, compilation or review engagement to both Audit Manager and Audit Director regularly
- Perform audit or review procedures as assigned by the Audit Managers or Audit Director
- Conduct research, prepare memorandums and summarize findings
- Demonstrate ability to assume responsibility for supervision of the daily fieldwork of engagements and client contact
- Prepare very complex individual, trust and business tax returns
- Prepare an evaluation of the staff on the engagement at the end of the engagement but give guidance to the staff when necessary during the engagement.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting & audit experience in public accounting
- Minimum of 1 year leading audits
- Experience preparing tax returns is a huge plus
- Experience with for-profit and non-for-profit clients
- Outstanding written, interpersonal and presentation skills

Accountant – Temporary
Position Summary:
ORBA is looking for a Temporary Accounting Clerk to join the finance team. This position will perform a variety of general accounting (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable), account reconciliations, detailed postings, billing and collection, and clerical support tasks. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, good with numbers and experienced in accounting systems (proficient with Sage Intacct a plus). This position has the potential to become permanent. It is a hybrid role, requiring the candidate to come into our Chicago office up to 2-3 times per week.
Essential Job Functions:
- Post and process all approved vendor invoices for payment.
- Verify all invoices are posted to proper general ledger accounts in accordance with company accounting policies.
- Maintain approved vendor files including all required tax and insurance information.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable schedule posting all required adjusting entries.
- Post cash receipts daily and scan related documentation.
- Reconcile company card and collect charge documentation.
- Billback sundry expenses to related clients.
- Provide invoice and retainer support.
- Assist with ORBA’s billing process.
- Assist with ORBA’s collections process.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of a high school degree
- Minimum of two years of experience with Accounts Payable/Receivable and/or credit card reconciliations.
- Familiar with Bill.com and Sage Intacct a plus
- Ability to function in a team environment
- Organizational skills with a focus on detail orientation.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.

Tax Manager
Position Summary:
The Tax Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely completion of income tax returns, proactively drives tax planning and tax consulting efforts, and serves as the primary day to day client contact, highly communicative and collaborates across the organization. Advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas, along with well developed and applied management and supervisory skills are required. The Tax Manager makes decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Technical acumen and technology
- Remains up to date with new technologies and leverages firm technology to maximize team productivity and efficiency.
- Demonstrates expertise in specialized tax subject matter.
- Consistently demonstrate ownership and accountability for all assigned clients and projects.
- Performs technical tax review and approval of all assigned projects and identifies basic, complex, and advanced issues, as applicable, during the engagement.
- Tax technical skills encompasses various income tax types (e.g., form 1065, 1120-S, 1040), including multi-state matters (e.g., allocation and apportionment, pass through entity tax)
- Demonstrates the ability to provide quality tax planning to clients that encompasses the clients’ full business needs.
- Maintains knowledge of general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required and Master’s degree in taxation required or similar advanced degree.
- Current and valid CPA required.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office in particular Excel and Word, CCH Axcess, BNA income tax planner, and online research tools.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and analyzing problems logically and comprehensively, distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information.
