Five Star Professional’s Methodology
Five Star Professional partnered with Chicago magazine to conduct research to identify certified public accountants who provide their clients with exceptional services. The program sought nominations from clients, peers and firms; self-nominations were not accepted. Nominations were compiled and candidates were evaluated using ten objective criteria. To be eligible for the award, the individual must (1) be a credentialed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), (2) be actively employed in the accounting services industry for a minimum of five years, (3) have a favorable regulatory and complaint history review, (4) be accepting new clients and (5) spend more than 50% of his or her time on taxation or other accounting services. The considered evaluation criteria included the candidate’s (6) one-year client retention rate, (7) five-year client retention rate, (8) number of clients served total, (9) one-year billing realization rate and (10) educational and professional designations/certifications.
